Personal ReflectionEvelyn CarusoI remember the day she was born -- vaguely -- and pictures help. Cathleen and Eduardo took Phil and me down the street to Fraser farm, and when we came back to the house, watched Amy come into the world. We called her Princess Amelia, and argued over who got to hold her. As she grew older, she and I became very close. Even though she was three years younger she always seemed wise beyond her years -- cool and confident and fearless. She excelled at everything she did -- every musical instrument from the saxophone to the oboe to the violin to the drums. She loved sports, like baseball, basketball and cross-country. She had an infectious laugh and the most striking blue eyes I have ever seen. I'm going to miss her more than words can express and I'm trying to take comfort by telling myself she is in a better place and that she's no longer in pain. |
